The CX-5 is due to come home tomorrow (hopefully).

The Buick rental drives nicely but it makes a few troubling noises - the moaning/whining from the rear end that I’ve mentioned previously and a LOUD clunking in the trunk area that sounds to me like a bad strut or strut mount. That just started today. My wife heard it over the radio (which I admittedly had up loud - this stereo rocks) and looked at me and said “What the hell is that?”

And it’s a 2016 with 14,000 miles! Yikes. Poor Buick.

Maybe a loose spare tire?

14k on a rental is like 140k on anything else though. Sounds like the old girl is holding up nicely, lol.

A friend of mine once bought a car with a very disturbing clunking sound in the rear. After much searching and consternation, we discovered ... a loose spare tire.

The spare wheel has come loose, if it was even bolted down to begin with. Happens in the new Impala too.
